Why run a Quiz Club?
A quiz has no secret agenda it is were a number of people come together and have a laugh . Clearly the level of knowledge must be on the same level for all participants for example you would not ask questions on nuclear physics to an audience who have do not know what the subject is about. Once an understanding of the audience has been established then the next question is finding the questions which meet those requirements. Many companies exist on the net who supply questions and answers for budding quiz masters.
Choosing the right format for your quiz can be problematical. If you want to complete the quiz in a pub then generally the participants are teams of a minimum of 3 and they have one answer sheet. Then there are individual formats but that tends to deter people who are worried they will not get any of the answers and therefore may feel inadequate. There is also the format were the answer is given in a multi answer method . the advantage of giving everyone a multi answer sheet is you stop the arguments when the answer are announced because there is no grey area there is only one correct answer. The format for the multi answer format is more difficult to compile because usually you have the choice on a correct anser from 4 possible answers. One will be funny and ridicules but one will need to be near the correct answer so as to get the participants thinking if they have the correct answer.
Quizzes can bring people together who may have never meet otherwise and can in a company breakdown barrier which may have developed with in a companies staff. A quiz can be a source of income for a pub landlord who may have great difficulty finding customers on a weekday. A landlord can offer a free curry for every quiz customer for £15.00. The landlord can give prizes of drink etc for the winning team etc. Charities' raising money have been known to use quizzes to achieve this goal. The contributor is not just giving money but is enjoying the idea that they may win a prize and in the mean time have fun participating in a quiz.
Rural and urban communities have become more dissolve with the onset of the internet and the television. Rarely do we need to actually take to someone face to face. Gone are the days when you would take to people in the street or a neighbour or college. Company tea rooms are becoming a major source of information because the computer network within the company is not a suitable tool for a chit chat. Yearly company outings have become a thing of the past because it is seen a not cost effective and outdated.
Quizzes can also help overcome learning issues where people need to learn health and safety rules or be tested on the highway code etc. Quiz can be designed to generate a response to a subject which suffer from apathy but is important for the success of the company. Cleanliness issues in hospitals have become a major topic an yet the major source of disease in the public visiting the sick patients. Informing people of these very important but nerveless boring issues can be achieved through a light hearted quiz.
